Kids Can Community Center is proud to announce that the recipient of the 2023 Can Do More Here Award is Candice Price. Sponsored by American National Bank, this award highlights individuals like Candice who go above and beyond in “doing more here” to make our communities better.
Candice is highly accomplished and is one of only two Black female-licensed auto dealers in the state as co-owner of Home Team Auto Sales and HT Towing & Repair. She is also involved in real estate, insurance, and food service. She recently served as Executive Director of the Grow Nebraska Women’s Business Center and currently serves on and advises several boards, including the Omaha Municipal Land Bank, Family Housing Advisory Services, Omaha 100, The Mildred D. Brown Memorial Study Center, No More Empty Pots and the Midlands African Chamber. She is the first person or color, man or woman, to serve on the Independent Automobile Dealer Association Board within the tri-state area.
Price is a client of American National Bank, which partners with the Carver Legacy Center (CLC) to provide financial services that support Black wealth, ownership and prosperity primarily in North Omaha. Deposit funds from Carver accounts, including Candice’s, are reserved to be reinvested into the community through business loans and both market rate and affordable housing loans.
“Candice is a true role model, advocate and leader focused building, supporting, and sustaining Black- and woman-owned businesses. Through volunteerism, scholarships and employment practices that encourage generational wealth and legacy-building, she consistently demonstrates that she ‘Can Do More Here’ every day. Her mission is closely aligned to ours and the Carver Legacy Center’s,” Carver Ambassador and First Vice President from American National Bank, Ernest White, said.
