You want to prepare yourself for the future (and the present as well). Sometimes, though, figuring out the smartest move is tricky.
Have you ever asked yourself what the difference is between a Roth IRA and a traditional IRA? Or if you should go for a 529 College Savings plan or a Coverdell Education Savings Account?
Retirement, college, investment: these are some of life's largest decisions. See how we can help you by exploring the options below.
Plan for a stress-free retirement
Retirement means something different to everyone, but there's one thing we all have in common: none of us want to spend our golden years worrying about money.
The key is to start planning for retirement early. There are many factors to consider:
- Retirement age
- Income needs
- Social Security
- Life expectancy
Our financial professionals will work with you to develop a realistic strategy for your retirement and create an Individual Retirement Account, or IRA.
Create your financial strategy with Managed Accounts
Managed accounts are like having your own personal investment coach watch your every move.
We'll pair you with the best possible manager for your specific financial goals, helping you customize an investment strategy based around your goals.
Invest in a Mutual Fund
Mutual funds are great for the risk-averse individual who wants to invest.
They have the unique benefit of having a large group of investors pooling their money to gain a diverse range of investments. That means safer growth than most individuals could attain on their own. Best of all, they're managed by a top financial advisor, to produce capital gains and income for the fund's investors.
Purchase Stocks & Bonds
A stock is a piece of ownership in a corporation, representing a corporation's assets and earnings. Essentially, a stock's owner (a "shareholder") owns a piece of the company. This can be a very profitable investment, though they also have the potential for loss in value as well.
A bond is a debt investment. That means that the investor lends it to an entity (corporate or governmental) and they borrow the funds for a defined period of time at a fixed interest rate. Bonds are a much safer route than stocks, but the potential for gain is not as high.
Our wealth advisors will help you find the proper balance of stocks and bonds for your investment goals.
Take out Annuities
Looking to invest in an annuity? We offer three types:
A fixed annuity works much like a certificate of deposit (CD). You earn an annual interest rate given by the insurance company.
A variable annuity is a contract with an insurance company where you get to choose how to invest from a pre-selected list of funds - sub-accounts inside of a variable annuity - which can range from aggressive stock funds to conservative bond funds.
An equity-indexed annuity (or indexed annuity) is a deferred annuity hybrid. The indexed annuity combines the security of a fixed annuity with the growth potential of a variable annuity.
Annuities can be a great retirement option for some of your investment dollars.
Save for College
There are many ways to save for college. We think these are two of the best ways:
The 529 College Savings Plan is sponsored by various states (or group of states), and they all share the same basic elements. All earnings accumulate tax-free, and you can make federally tax-free withdrawals to pay for qualified educational expenses, such as college tuition, room and board, and books at any accredited college, university, vocational, or technical program in the United States and a number of institutions overseas.
The Coverdell Education Savings Account is an individual retirement account opened for a child under age 18. You can make contributions of up to $2,000 annually by anyone who meets specified income limits. Contributions are not tax-deductible, but earnings grow tax-deferred until withdrawn.
Set yourself up with quality Insurance
Protect your family's future with insurance from a bank you trust. We work with top life insurance carriers in the country to find the best solutions for your needs.
Although the insurance marketplace can seem very complex, we can help you navigate it.
Term Life Insurance
Term life insurance provides coverage at a fixed rate for a limited period of time. After that period expires, coverage at the previous rate of premiums is no longer guaranteed. The client must either forgo coverage or potentially obtain further coverage with different payments or conditions.
Whole Life Insurance
Whole life insurance is a life insurance contract with level premiums that has both an insurance and investment component. The insurance component pays a stated amount upon death of the insured. The investment component accumulates a cash value that the policyholder can withdraw or borrow against.
Universal Life Insurance
Universal life insurance is a type of flexible permanent life insurance offering the low-cost protection of term life insurance as well as a savings element (like whole life insurance), which is invested to provide a cash value buildup.
Variable Universal Life
Variable universal life is a form of permanent life insurance. Variable life insurance provides permanent protection to the beneficiary upon the death of the policyholder.
Disability insurance is used to help you replace lost income in instances when you are not able to work due to illness or accident.
Long-Term Care Insurance
Long-term care insurance pays a set benefit amount for a wide range of services, including assisted living, nursing home care, and in-home care. There are generally three types of long-term care products:
- Traditional long-term care insurance
Traditional long-term care insurance is what most people think of when they hear "long-term care coverage," and most policies have some basic features in common. The daily benefit amount is how much the policy will pay per day for facility-based care. There may also be a weekly or monthly benefit amount for home-based care
- Long-term care insurance
Long-term care insurance or linked benefit product is a deferred fixed annuity that leverages your dollars inside the annuity product for long-term care needs. If you do not use any type of long-term care, the annuity value passes to your beneficiaries. If you do need long-term care, the annuity provides a pool of dollars, generally 3 to 4 times your annuity deposits, for your care needs
- A life insurance policy to fund long-term care
A life insurance policy to fund long-term care or linked benefit product is a universal life policy with a leveraged life and long-term care benefit. A linked benefit life policy generally can produce an initial life insurance benefit of 3 to 4 times the initial premium payment and 5 to 6 times that amount in long-term care coverage benefit
